IU Credit Union Operations Center
Location: Bloomington, IN
Size: 13,600 square feet
Indiana’s 11th largest credit union engaged Rowland Design to create a new main operations center which supports multiple branch locations throughout the state. Building massing references rural forms and features shed roofs clad in Terne metal. Stone walls used both on the exterior and interior nod to the region’s limestone industry.
A central entry and core are flanked by two wings that are enhanced by a continuous monitor of clerestory windows flooding day light to the open offices below. The hub of the structure known as the collaborative core allows the building to be thoughtfully pre-planned for future expansions. The new facility also serves as the disaster operations center for the financial institution and is equipped with emergency generators to power the building should it be necessary.
