The Robertson Chapel at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church renovation included the adaptation of Ed Dart’s monumental sanctuary to a contemporary worship environment, while maintaining the historical architectural character of the space. A platform stage with reredos wall was added to create a “behind the scenes” staging area. The existing choir loft was converted to accommodate a band. Sound reinforcement was a unique challenge due to the unconventional shape of the chapel. Other improvements included updated house and theatrical LED lighting, a new elevated sound booth with A/V controls, and the addition of projection equipment at the front and rear of the space. ADA accessibility was also addressed during the renovation.
