After the successful completion of a former project, repeat client Buckingham Companies once again engaged Rowland Design to create the signage and branding of the Aertson Hotel and Residences located in Nashville, Tennessee. Our experiential graphic design team provided extensive interior/exterior signage along with wayfinding and graphics for the new property. Also featured was an illuminated wall element created in conjunction with a local fabricator.

Rowland Design worked with local NBC affiliated television station WTHR in the late 1990’s on the design of their reception, lobby and green rooms.  When it came time for a refresh, WTHR again turned to Rowland for a contemporary update.

The project objective was to conceive a clean, bright and modern space that referenced the company’s status as a regional communications leader. A New York City vibe is blended with a West Coast aesthetic to create a wow factor first impression to visitors.

Outdated elements from the 1990s plan were deleted allowing for a complete redesign of the reception desk and surround.  The fresh design accommodates today’s work approach, while keeping entrance security a focus.

Design elements reflective of the WTHR brand are incorporated throughout the project reinforcing the company’s commitment to the local community.  Our team reinterpreted the existing lobby artwork with a large scale illuminated design piece with WTHR and NBC iconography.  A local graffiti artist was commissioned to create a bespoke two-story mural depicting distinctive Indianapolis landmarks.

With a shift to a new location nearer to downtown Indianapolis the United Way of Central Indiana, known as UWCI, not only adopted a new address but a new corporate culture. The community-based organization embraced a fresh approach to its fundamental work desiring a more flexible, current and vibrant environment to not only create more efficient work space, but fully embody the energy and vision of the ‘New U’ mission.

Visitors enter the space past custom graphic wood elements that announce UWCI’s location and act as an extension of United Way’s branding. Office spaces highlight a neutral hues aesthetic that is punctuated with bursts of colorful accent walls further enhancing the vibrant and spirited surroundings.

Introducing natural daylighting into the space was a significant design consideration. An open concept plan was generated where workspaces rather than enclosed offices line the perimeter of the suite keeping windows free from obstruction. Encompassing the reception area are a mixture of flexible meeting rooms, conference rooms and enclaves.
